Tragedy struck at AmokweElu-Owerre Obukpa in Nsukka local Government 
Area of Enugu State, where three persons died of suspected food poison.
The victims who were members of the same family were identified as 
Ikenna Ugwuanyi, Nnama Ugwuanyi and Chineche Ugwuanyi.
They reportedly took ill after eating cassava meal on July 27, and 
were rushed to University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) Medical Centre.
After fruitless efforts to save their lives, doctors at the medical 
centre later confirmed them dead.
Ebere Amaraizu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Enugu 
State Command confirmed our report.
According to Amaraizu, about three persons have been confirmed dead 
in Nsukka, following an alleged eating of cassava meal.
“It was gathered that three persons identified as Ikenn Ugwuanyi, 
Nnama Ugwuanyi and Chineche Ugwuanyi of  same family in Amokwe Elu owere
 Obukpa Nsukka local government area of the state, took ill after eating
 cassava meal on July 27.
They were consequently rushed to University of Nigeria medical 
centre  Nsukka where they were confirmed dead” the police spokesman 
said.
He disclosed that corpses of the deceased have been buried by their 
relations while police have commenced investigations into the incident.
